ASTM International and Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) Conduct Training Under the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Global Advisory Program on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
About Us:
In its role to strengthen the National Quality Infrastructure for products and services and align Jordan National Standards with international best practices, the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) is focusing on Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as a priority sector and in response to an urgent National need.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) provides investment, advisory, and asset-management services to encourage private-sector growth in developing countries. JSMO welcomes the opportunity to partner with the IFC to support PPE manufacturers in its own emerging market. The 18-month project will enable the diversification of products and supply chains and contribute to the strengthening of health systems by building knowledge about the content and role of PPE standards.
ASTM International (ASTM), a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of voluntary consensus standards, offers several standards for masks, gowns, gloves, and sanitizers. A long-time MoU partner with JSMO and a recent MoU partner with IFC, ASTM is excited to collaborate with both to deliver a series of procedural and technical programs for Jordan.
Led by experts who have been involved in the development of the subject ASTM standards, the monthly technical webinars will enable public and private sector stakeholders to better understand standards for medical and non-medical PPE including masks, gowns, gloves and related products such as sanitizers. Procedural training sessions will be presented by ASTM staff, building knowledge and providing pointers to effectively engage in ASTM, the development of standards, and related programs. Together, the sessions will promote standards cooperation and good international practices related to the adoption, application and role of PPE standards.
Related publications, outcomes and recommendations will be shared.
